10/27/26 - Hammond Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting
Body
City of Hammond, Indiana
Date

Jurisdiction
State & Local
The City of Hammond Board of Zoning Appeals met on October 27, 2026. The board approved the April 28 and September 29 meeting minutes and tabled several other sets of minutes until December 1. Its main business was two petitions by Baldwin Development LLC for an automotive service/oil-change facility at 1945/1941 169th Street and 6850 Indianapolis Boulevard. The applicant said the adjoining parcels would be combined into a 19,437.5-square-foot lot, slightly below the 20,000-square-foot minimum, and that the site plan could provide seven parking spaces rather than the approximately 13 required under the existing standard.
The board approved both development variances by 5–0: the reduced minimum lot area and the reduced off-street parking requirement. Approval of the lot-size variance was conditioned on approval of removal and relocation of the electrical box for the streetlight along 169th Street; the parking variance was approved subject to the staff report’s standards and conditions, including the related variance approval. No contract awards, purchases, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
