The East Peoria City Council meeting on September 1, 2026, approved several spending items. The consent agenda, including payment of bills totaling $1,377,439.56, passed. The council also approved funding to extend the Centennial Drive mill-and-overlay project toward High View, leveraging a $640,000 Tri-County grant with about $1.2 million in additional funding. Other approved items included a $19,737.45 Sports Imports volleyball-equipment purchase, supported by three quotes, and annual EPA wastewater-discharge fees of $32,500 for Plant 1 and $15,000 for Plant 3. The consent agenda also included storm-sewer slip-lining work by Hair Construction and concrete driveway and sidewalk repairs by CNG Concrete Construction.

The council advanced, on first reading and for later consideration, the final two East Side Center turf fields project, discussed as costing about $2.65 million including a $132,359.35 contingency, and the purchase and outfitting of three 2026 Ford Explorer police interceptor vehicles from Sutton Ford for $215,841.82. Discussion cited ATG Sports’ prior work and the value of consistent turf, while a resident questioned the competitive process and use of local contractors. Residents also raised privacy and oversight concerns about Flock license-plate cameras; the mayor said a contract renewal and addition of 10 cameras would come before the council at a future meeting. No vote on that renewal occurred at this meeting.
