The East Peoria City Council meeting on August 4, 2026, approved a consent agenda that included payment of scheduled bills totaling $1,129,406.39 and a purchase of new fire-department air packs from Municipal Emergency Services Inc.; no price for the air packs was stated. The council also approved on first reading a $32,907.41 proposal from Mobile Communications America for a bi-directional amplifier system at the new police station, and a $19,090.25 purchase of Christmas-tree displays for Levee Park. It accepted on first reading a year-to-year cash-rent lease to Mike Yordy and Sons Inc. for 210 tillable acres of city farmland. The council adopted an ordinance setting the full-time mayor’s salary at $128,000 for the term beginning after the 2027 municipal election, with four votes in favor and the mayor abstaining.

The council also approved the first reading of an update to the city’s floodplain ordinance, 4–1, to incorporate revised federal flood maps and a one-foot freeboard requirement. Members discussed the effects on roughly 430 additional properties, including possible flood-insurance costs and the consequences of not meeting the September 7 deadline for continued participation in the National Flood Insurance Program; they planned to continue exploring options. No final contract award for the amplifier project or farmland lease was recorded at this meeting, as both were advanced on first reading.
