The September 24, 2026 regular meeting of the VISD Public Meetings board included financial and operational updates, legislative advocacy, and policy votes. The board discussed a possible $3,000 expense for a representative to attend the National School Boards Association Advocacy Institute; members were invited to provide input, and the item is expected to return for consideration at the next meeting. No contract awards, RFPs, or other purchasing approvals were identified. The superintendent said a bond presentation on the committee’s work and recommendations is planned for October; the board has not decided whether or when to put a bond before voters. The financial update reported spending slightly below the normalized projection, enrollment 30 students below budget projections, and grant funding still pending. Staff also reported continuing implementation issues with the Q system migration and support from ESD 113, with no new procurement decision described.

The board approved the consent agenda and adopted or updated several district policies, including policies on enrollment, absences, student release during school hours, restraint and isolation, sick leave, and revenue sources; it also approved retiring the closed-campus policy. The legislative representative outlined state school-funding priorities, including fully funding MSOCs and substitute costs, regionalization, and avoiding unfunded mandates. No spending vote was taken on those advocacy priorities.
