Planning and Zoning Meeting 10-27-2026

The City of Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission’s October 27, 2026 meeting approved the October 13 minutes and considered conditional use permit CU26-0167 for four retail buildings at 1601 North Old Stage Coach Road in the Veterans Drive Overlay District. After public comment and discussion of traffic, drive-through queuing, landscaping, screening, lighting, and access, the commission approved the permit with conditions: provide full screening on the west side in compliance with code and lower lighting where this does not conflict with intended use. Staff may administratively approve the changes; the voice vote appears to have passed. Staff had recommended approval as presented and stated that the plans met applicable requirements.

The discussion also addressed the project’s relationship to Old Stage Coach Road improvements, the Vibe Trail, and a historic well, as well as ambiguities in applicable zoning and transportation standards. Staff reported that the city adopted a balanced budget after a robust budget process and described staffing and duty changes in the planning department. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or other procurement activity were identified.
