The City of Punta Gorda City Council and Historic Preservation Advisory Board held a joint meeting on October 27, 2026. The main procurement-related discussion concerned exterior work on historic City Hall: masonry repointing and options for its windows, including restoration, impact windows, or Bahama shutters. The architect said the estimated project costs for restoration and replacement were relatively close, with an approximately $50,000 difference across the project. The group reached unanimous consensus to proceed with impact windows for preparation of bid documents, citing protection, energy efficiency, and reduced maintenance; this was direction to advance the procurement process, not a contract award. Further interior design and hazardous-material remediation documents are expected later.

The board tabled discussion of Certified Local Government status because the ordinance provisions are not yet effective and the board lacks the required minimum membership. Members supported pursuing local historic designation for Gilchrist Park after its National Register application was not advanced, and agreed to look into whether that decision could be appealed. The Punta Gorda Historical Society presented a proposal to operate the restored AC Freeman House under a nominal lease, with possible events and public uses; council members raised maintenance, taxpayer cost, accessibility, and whether an RFP would be needed, but no lease or procurement decision was made. No other contract awards or purchasing approvals were identified.
