🚨 Public Safety 🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure Grants & Funding Physical Infrastructure

At the October 27, 2026, Ada County Board of Commissioners open business meeting, commissioners approved several budget adjustments and grant actions. Resolution 3243 moved remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) budget activity into FY2027 while final invoices are processed; Resolution 3244 rolled over an unspent Office on Violence Against Women grant balance. Resolution 3245 adjusted the Parks Department budget to reflect approximately $1 million in construction funding and a $27,674 match. The board also approved applications for a 36-month, $450,000 Sheriff’s Office grant and two Coroner’s Office grants: approximately $108,000 for deployable mass-fatality response equipment and $50,520 for histology equipment and staff training. The coroner described an additional estimated $15,000 in equipment-outfitting costs, to be phased using available operating funds and subject to normal purchasing requirements.

The board approved a federal Justice Assistance Grant subrecipient agreement for the Sheriff’s Office; possible uses discussed included a digital-forensics computer, a crowd-surveillance trailer, and a specialty-team notification app. A commissioner asked the Sheriff’s Office to consult the board before pursuing license-plate-reader or related surveillance technology; staff said there were no such requests in the current plan. Commissioners also approved the claims journal, a package of 16 agreements, and specified licensing items, including eight catering permits and a new license, while revoking one catering permit. No specific contract award or vendor selection was identified. In the EMS District portion, staff reported ongoing data integration work with a vendor, but no related purchasing action was presented.
