The Gila County Board of Supervisors’ work session, held October 27, 2026 (the meeting metadata is dated October 28), included updates on infrastructure, landfill operations, flood recovery, a federal brownfields grant, and procurement options. The sanitary district reported sewer-project progress, including treatment-plant work and street restoration, and said it hoped to secure funding for additional basins by year-end or early January. No new contract award or spending vote was recorded. The landfill update identified an already board-approved Russell Gulch compactor, expected to arrive around December–January, and early-stage procurement for an excavator and recycling/diversion equipment such as a grinder. Staff also discussed landfill expansion, operating costs, and funding needs, with further updates planned for the board.
Staff reported that flood-recovery projects were substantially complete: guaranteed maximum prices totaled just over $11.4 million, while county billing was reported at $8.6 million; the presenter said $3.6 million was returned to the county. Tiffany Construction and J Fuller were named among the project partners. The county also described a $1.5 million EPA Brownfields grant for the Copper Corridor, supporting property assessments, reuse planning, and resource road maps—not cleanup or renovation. Finally, staff presented job order contracting and cooperative purchasing options, including Sourcewell, ADOA, and Yavapai County agreements, as ways to speed projects and encourage local contractor participation. The board discussed the approach but took no vote; staff will work with finance, procurement, and the county attorney’s office on possible recommendations, including a county-driven contractor program.
