The Oregon City Historic Review Board met on October 27, 2026, and provided nonbinding design advice for a proposed single-family home on a vacant lot at Fourth Avenue and Ganong Street in the Canemah National Register District. The project faces a constrained, sloped 5,000-square-foot lot and would require later land-use review, including geologic-hazard review; the applicant is also pursuing a preservation-incentive garage setback reduction. Board members discussed the home’s massing and height, how to reflect the district’s vernacular architecture, window and porch details, exterior materials, landscaping, retaining walls, and possible adjustments to the floor level and rear deck. Staff encouraged coordination with the city engineer as the design develops. No motion or vote was taken; the advice was informal and nonbinding.

The board also heard that a compatible-change ordinance, combined with tribal-noticing changes, is scheduled for its first City Commission reading on November 4. Staff invited board members to attend a free Certified Local Government workshop on November 13, with mileage reimbursement available through a grant. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or other procurement activity were identified.
