# 2026/10/26 - Historic Preservation Commission Meeting

**Body:** City of Caldwell
**Date:** October 27, 2026
**Jurisdiction:** SLED

**Tags:** Construction & Infrastructure, Grants & Funding

The City of Caldwell Historic Preservation Commission meeting, held October 26, 2026, discussed potential 2027 projects and grant funding. Members considered historic-district resurveying, education and tours, and historic signage and sign inventory. Staff said survey costs were tentatively estimated at a few thousand dollars and was seeking more specific estimates from three local firms; because the project would be small, a formal RFP might not be necessary. Commission funds, including a referenced $10,000, could potentially serve as grant match, and members discussed whether grant applications could support more than one project. No project, grant application, or contract award was approved; project priorities were deferred to the next meeting. Staff also reported that work on the historic benches was complete and that reimbursement under the state’s reimbursement grant was pending.

The commission agreed to work with a prior presenter on educational materials about proposed Section 106 changes for the mayor and City Council. Members also discussed a possible January student tour, developing signage and outreach ideas, and pursuing additional grant opportunities. The commission approved the September 28 minutes by motion and second; no procurement-related vote or spending authorization was recorded.
