The City of Alamogordo City Commission’s regular meeting on October 27, 2026, approved Contract Change Order No. 4 with National Construction for Fire Station 2 pavement improvements. By a 7–0 vote, the commission selected the staff-recommended $173,159.84 option: a concrete pad outside the apparatus bay doors and asphalt for the driveways and parking areas, rather than the $254,816.81 all-concrete alternative. Staff cited the lower cost and easier, less expensive access to an underground gas line; the commission was told Fund 69 had a balance of approximately $6.06 million.

A commissioner called for auditors to closely review $2 million in previously disbursed LEDA funds for New York Avenue projects, but no audit action was formally taken during the meeting. Following executive session on a personnel matter involving a senior project manager, the commission voted 7–0 to direct the HR director to hire an independent reviewer; no cost was stated. No other procurement awards or spending approvals were identified.
