Klamath County Board of Commissioners business meeting, October 27, 2026. The board approved reclassifying an Engineer 3 position to Engineer 4, with an estimated annual fiscal impact of $8,623.79. It also approved up to $250,000 from reserves/internal services for additional finance support to complete the Springbrook-to-Tyler software conversion. The board discussed the county’s juvenile-facilities solar project: True South Solar, Inc. submitted a bid of $573,970, and the project has an Oregon Department of Energy grant covering up to 50% of costs. Staff sought permission to pursue a federal elective-pay tax credit that could further reduce the county’s net cost; the transcript does not capture a formal vote on that request. Commissioners agreed to withdraw the county’s response to a City of Klamath Falls RFP concerning use of a historic building, while leaving open the possibility of considering a later proposal. The county also plans to issue RFPs for ambulance service in two areas and will share them with tribal representatives for review.
Other spending and project discussions included an upcoming bid process for the Lake Ewauna project, which still needs funding; possible grant support for staffing at a transfer station and ambulance service; and coordination with the Klamath Tribes on Barkley Springs restoration and related engineering plans. The economic development association reported issuing an RFQ/RFP for a strategic plan and described business, housing, workforce, and infrastructure initiatives. Commissioners asked planning staff to work with the planning commission on recommendations for updating industrial-use code. The meeting also addressed the county’s $5.3 million property-foreclosure surplus settlement and possible payment sources, but no final funding allocation was recorded.
