🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚚 Transportation Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

The McCully–Mōʻiliʻili Neighborhood Board’s regular meeting was held October 27, 2026. The most direct procurement update concerned the Ala Pono Bridge project: the City is in a procurement process to hire a design-builder, following resolution of historic-preservation requirements. Officials said the project has a $25 million federal BUILD grant and are seeking to move quickly because some federal funds are at risk of lapsing. The City’s Complete Streets team also discussed safety planning for Beretania, King, and Young Streets, including near-term restriping, signs, and delineators, with larger capital improvements to be considered in later project stages. No contract award, vendor selection, or project spending vote was made by the board.

Other infrastructure and budget topics included community input for the Urban Forestry Division’s 10-year tree plan; the division’s report that it contracts out about 95% of tree maintenance, without discussing a specific vendor or contract amount; and discussion of prioritizing flood-mitigation projects through capital improvement planning. A state senator’s representative reported released funding for deferred maintenance on portions of the Ala Wai Canal wall and dredging, but provided no amount or detailed scope. The board approved prior meeting minutes and voted to participate in two December parades; no procurement-related spending action was identified.
