Bannock County Board of Commissioners meeting, October 27, 2026. The commissioners discussed and approved the county’s audit engagement letter. The auditor described additional non-audit services as capped at $3,000 unless significant additional work is needed, in which case the county would be notified; commissioners said additional work would require their approval. They raised concern that termination rights appeared one-sided and asked county staff and the auditor to develop a mutual for-cause termination provision for a future revision, while proceeding with the current engagement. A separate monthly transaction-system contract, allowing 150 transactions per month and carrying a slight price increase, was held until later in the week so commissioners could obtain usage and cost information. The procurement officer reported architectural task orders 1, 3, and 4 underway and task order 2 still on hold; a fireworks solicitation had been posted, with questions due Monday and a proposed five-year term structured as an initial year plus four optional one-year extensions. The county also discussed coordinating preliminary fencing and access work at the wellness complex. The sheriff’s office received approval to submit an internally prepared rural violent-crime grant application for crime-scene documentation equipment; the grant cap is $250,000, with estimated equipment costs of about $40,000–$120,000 and no local match identified. Commissioners also approved signing the EMPG and SHSP award agreements.
Other actions included approving special assessments for addition to the 2026 tax roll and approving employee holiday-leave terms and board appointments/policy updates. No contract award for the fireworks solicitation or the transaction-system contract was made at this meeting; the latter was deferred pending more information.
