At the City of SeaTac Regular Council Meeting on October 27, 2026, the Council approved a telecommunications franchise agreement with Easy Fiber (Agenda Bill 6,910; Ordinance 26-1019) by a 7โ€“0 vote. The agreement governs use of public rights-of-way for fiber internet service. Council discussed restoration and permitting safeguards, including the vendorโ€™s agreement to include site inspections and potholing requirements in standing permit conditions; members also raised construction-notification and multilingual-access concerns. The Council approved a consent agenda that included rejecting the sole, incomplete bid for the Riverton Heights Park Improvements Project (Agenda Bill 7,026), clearing the way for the project to be rebid. The Transportation and Public Works Committee also recommended renewing two on-call professional engineering services contracts for future Council consideration, and staff reported that the Airport Station project anticipates rebidding construction in early 2027.

Council discussed, but did not approve, a proposed revised one-year Flock Safety contract. The existing agreement was reported to have auto-renewed through April 2028; the City Attorney is negotiating an amendment with safeguards, including restrictions on facial recognition and data use, quarterly audits, and suspension for misuse. The revised agreement is expected to return to Council for consideration before year-end. Separately, staff reported submitting grant applications for $60,000 for conservation programs and $38,000 for lodging stabilization and air-conditioner assistance; these were informational, not awards. A request to consider school-zone speed cameras was directed to a future Council study session, with traffic-calming alternatives and impacts on courts and city departments to be examined.
