The City of San Bruno Planning Commission held a special meeting on October 26, 2026. The Commission continued the Tanforan Redevelopment Project hearing to November 5 after staff reported receiving a state-agency letter and said its review found no expected material changes to the project. The agenda contemplated recommendations on environmental review findings, airport land-use commission override, and a development agreement with Alexandria Real Estate Equities; none was approved at this meeting. The anticipated City Council hearing was tentatively rescheduled to November 17. No contract award, procurement, or spending decision was identified.

In a study-session update, staff reviewed long-range planning work, including the Elevate San Bruno land-use initiative, downtown zoning adjustments, the Climate Action Plan, and updates to the Environmental Justice and Open Space and Recreation elements. Potential downtown zoning changes discussed included stricter storefront and lighting rules, revised allowed uses, and prohibiting smoke shops with a possible phase-out period; these remain under development. A resident also raised concerns about delays and proof requirements for permits for existing ADUs. No funding amounts or procurement actions were discussed.
