The City of Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Commission met on October 26, 2026. The Commission approved a temporary Blue Zones Project pop-up dog park pilot, subject to staff quickly discussing the project timeframe and post-removal restoration with Blue Zones; the park is to return to its original condition after the pilot. Blue Zones said it would cover dismantling costs, while city staff discussed maintenance and insurance responsibilities. The presentation described a locally hired landscape architect and a design modeled on existing dog parks. Staff noted community feedback and raised concerns about reseeding costs and the short six-to-eight-week pilot period; no dollar amount was provided. A resident also proposed donating property for a neighborhood pocket park, but staff said they would follow up about the process.
Staff reported that an agreement extension for Vivid Staging Solutions, which provides audio, lighting, and production services for city events, was scheduled for City Council consideration. For the Desert Highland Park playground replacement, staff processed a change order for additional engineering on equipment footings and expected to submit final plans for permitting. The Ruth Hardy Park workout-space project was undergoing procurement finalization for a cooperative purchasing arrangement, with an agreement expected to go to Council the following month or in early December. Staff also reported that a grant application for the Wyatt Mural was unsuccessful and that they would continue seeking funding. No contract dollar amounts were stated.
