At its October 27, 2026 open session, the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved six permanent right-of-way easement agreements for project HDP-20-78/2110-6B-78, part of the Magnolia Road reconstruction and bridge-improvement project near Underwood. The county engineer said the project has federal funding and that the easements fall within the Secondary Roads capital-project authorization of up to $3.3 million; approximately $273,000 was requested for the acquisitions. JCG Land Services handled negotiations. The board approved agreements involving Pamela Smith’s trust ($39,100), Wellborn Family LLC (amount garbled in the transcript), the Trafton parties ($11,830), Underwood Farm Supply LLC ($4,100), Link Snacks, Inc. ($191,425), and Farm Power Inc. (amount unclear in the transcript). Supervisors questioned Link Snacks’ compensation for pavement, sign relocation, tree removal, and light-pole relocation, but approved the agreement. A supervisor suggested considering Rightway Services for a quote on future acquisitions; the engineer said he would look into it.
The board also approved a transfer from the ski hill fund to the property acquisition/improvement/maintenance fund for a loan payment, with no amount stated, and approved a payroll-and-benefits employee’s promotion to manager-level pay grade within the existing budget, asking staff to verify the position’s exempt classification. Other actions included approving the annual weed commissioner’s report, appointing Tracy Nose Gable county weed commissioner for 2027, and adopting the Operation Greenlight for Veterans proclamation. No other contract awards or purchasing decisions were identified.
