Wichita County Commissioners Court met on October 27, 2026. The court approved a bid from Texoma Door and Gate for $14,500 from Fund 222 to relocate and replace the Precinct 2 entrance gate in Burkburnett; the county had received two bids, with the other at $18,300. The court also considered a resolution supporting, in principle, discussions with the Texas Veterans Land Board about donating county-owned property for a state veterans home. The proposed facility was described as a roughly $65 million investment with about 160–180 jobs. A motion and second to sign the resolution were recorded, but the transcript does not clearly capture the final vote. The county discussed determining property boundaries, access, acreage, and terms before any transfer.
The court approved changes to Wichita County’s Local Provider Participation Fund (LPPF) rules and authorized a separate bank account to meet state requirements. The changes limit payment calculations to inpatient and outpatient net patient revenue and preserve existing funds and rate limits; officials said failure to meet the November 18 deadline could put approximately $30 million in Medicaid matching funds at risk. The court also received a construction progress update on the Burkburnett annex. An FFA presentation about data centers was a student debate exercise and did not result in a procurement action. The county burn ban was lifted effective 11:59 p.m. that day.
