At its October 27, 2026 Board of Commissioners meeting, Clay County approved payment of bills and vouchers and adopted an updated Social Services volunteer driver program policy, including a $25 stipend for qualifying local Medical Assistance rides. The stipend will be paid from the existing program budget, with no additional funding requested. The board also authorized Social Services to issue RFPs for two 2027 funding programs: $65,633 in Statewide Affordable Housing Aid and $294,352 in Local Homeless Prevention Aid. Proposals will be reviewed by selection committees, with recommended allocations and contracts expected to return to the board in early 2027; no awards were made at this meeting.

The board received an update on the proposed 2027–2031 Capital Improvement Plan, covering county road and bridge work and estimated funding sources, including a roughly $7 million grading and paving project from Highway 336 to Sabin. The plan was presented for discussion, not approval. Reports also noted that Johnson Financial was selected to oversee the crop loss reserve fund, and that county staff are reviewing concerns about election-judge appointments and procedures. No contract amount was stated for the Johnson Financial work.
