The Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee met on October 22, 2026, and received an update from Franklin Regional Transit Authority Deputy Administrator Michael Pratt on its Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) Act 4 All 2 grant. FRTA received $932,000 in March 2025 and has placed a purchase order for two battery-electric minibuses, expected to enter revenue service in November 2026. FRTA is developing specifications for a DC fast-charging system with up to four dispensers; it anticipates bidding the equipment purchase in November–December 2026 and soliciting bids for installation by an electrical contractor in early 2027, with service targeted for July 2027. The grant-supported fleet plan found that 38% of fixed-route operations and 24% of paratransit operations could transition to electric vehicles with minimal operational changes. No procurement-related votes were taken at this meeting.

Pratt also reported that FRTA awarded Certified Safe Electric the contract to install a solar PV system at its new facility. The system is expected to be completed by January 2027, subject to Eversource approval for interconnection; no contract value was stated. Other discussion covered potential pollinator plantings and a possible bike-path connection, the upcoming energy fair and public engagement for an economic-development planning process, and preparation of the committee’s annual report. The committee approved the September meeting minutes and agreed to coordinate rescheduling its November meeting.
