The NOLA Public Schools OPSB Budget & Finance Committee met October 27, 2026. The CFO reported approximately $73.1 million in purchases during 2026, including $14.7 million (20.2%) awarded to DBE firms. First-quarter contract execution was about $9.4 million, and reported first-quarter purchasing was about $13.1 million, including roughly $1.4 million in DBE spending. The committee also reviewed August financials and local revenues, and a proposed 2026–27 general-fund amendment that adds $1.5 million for Thrive Kids mental-health initiatives and shifts capital-related revenue and expenditures to the Capital Improvement Fund. These budget items were advanced to the full board for consideration.
The committee advanced several procurement and spending items to the Thursday board meeting, including an amendment to the milk-products bid, an RFP for professional lobbyist services, an ITB for HVAC replacement (ITB26-FAC-0043), software subscription renewals, and revolving-loan funds for three school campuses. It also advanced a proposal to reallocate approximately $2.94 million in Leah Chase School startup funding and considered several donations for school purposes. A proposed donation of consulting services valued at up to $10,000 for a study drew public comment about independence and outside influence; the committee’s vote count and whether the item would proceed to the full board were left for legal/parliamentary review. No final contract awards were made by the committee in the transcript; the items were generally referred for full-board consideration.
