At the October 27, 2026 Lake County Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board approved a three-year tourism marketing agreement with Montverde Academy. The agreement, previously approved by the Tourist Development Council 7โ1, provides for Discover Lake County branding on digital and social media, distribution of marketing materials at home games, title sponsorship of the Montverde Invitational, and sponsorship of five additional athletic events annually. No dollar amount was stated. A commissioner recused themself, and the board approved the item. The board also authorized moving forward with a lawsuit involving Mid Florida Materials and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection over alleged environmental impacts; the county attorney noted potential exposure to the opposing partyโs legal fees and costs if the county is unsuccessful. The Lake County Water Authority said it had authorized planning monitoring wells on its property.
The board voted 4โ0 to advertise an extension of the suspension on accepting data-center applications in unincorporated Lake County, with a proposed end date of June 11, 2027, if adopted after public hearings scheduled for November 17 and December 1. Commissioners said further workshops and review are needed; the extension was not yet finally adopted. The board also approved Ordinance 2026-49, requiring applicants to submit an affidavit addressing known historical or archaeological resources, and approved a vacation of a small easement. Agenda tab 18, concerning cameras in county vehicles, was withdrawn after the parties reached an agreement. The landscape-standards workshop was deferred until after other agenda items.
