The City of Frederick held a Community Priorities Town Hall on October 27, 2026, combining discussion of the FY2028 budget process and legislative priorities. City officials described community priorities including affordable housing, social well-being, transportation, safe communities, and arts and culture. The budget is at an early planning stage; the mayor’s office will develop a proposal for council review, with workshops and public hearings before expected adoption around late May or early June. No contract awards, bids, vendor selections, or spending votes were identified.
The discussion highlighted potential funding needs and capital projects, including the youth center expected to open July 1, 2027; improvements to the Housing and Human Services campus at 100 South Market Street; Route 15 safety and widening; the Golden Mile multimodal lane and shared-use path; transit and rail improvements; and continued development at a community center site. Speakers urged continued city grants and support for community organizations addressing homelessness and other human needs, and advocated for affordable housing—particularly for very low-income residents—and safer bicycle and pedestrian access. The city also described state and federal advocacy to secure funding for projects. These were planning priorities and public input, not procurement approvals.
