The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners meeting on October 27, 2026, included several spending and contracting actions. The board approved a $100,000 contract with Resource Recycling Systems for a strategic needs assessment for the Environmental Sustainability Center, and ratified contracts on the county’s contract ratification report. It approved general claims totaling $3,587,413.42; a motion to separate the Flock Group payment line from the claims failed, so the claims were considered together. Commissioners discussed Flock automated license plate reader cameras and the need for a county policy, but no policy change was adopted. The board also approved a revised facilities-use policy after an amendment to halve the proposed rental rates; a proposal to retain language allowing the facilities director to waive nonprofit fees did not receive a second.

The board authorized filing an intervention petition in the Silver Maple Solar matter with the Michigan Public Service Commission by the November 12 deadline, and separately authorized the county administrator to coordinate the county’s position and engage outside legal counsel. An amendment requires the board to direct and approve substantive policy positions and to expressly approve any settlement or host community agreement that would bind the county or limit its legal rights. The developer-provided intervenor funding was discussed, with $50,000 described as a target for legal expenses; administration indicated it would return to the board if additional funds were needed. No counsel had been selected. The board also discussed, but did not decide, a proposed additional housing-advocacy seat, with members favoring further committee review and the regular appointment process.
