At its October 26, 2026 meeting, the St. Mary’s County Planning Commission reviewed the draft Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP), which is updated every five years and helps guide park, recreation, open-space, and agricultural-preservation priorities. The plan identifies reinvestment in existing facilities, trails and water access, indoor recreation, and natural-resource protection as priorities, and supports eligibility for Maryland Program Open Space funding for land acquisition and capital projects. After discussion of needed data and document updates, the Commission unanimously recommended the draft plan to the County Commissioners. No procurement award or purchase was made in connection with the plan.
