The City of Las Cruces Council held a work session on October 26, 2026, to discuss future uses for the city-owned Amador Live property. Staff proposed activating the site with community events and private-event rentals, followed by phased renovations and leasing individual spaces to businesses such as restaurants or bars. Visit Las Cruces would lead event programming, with potential activities including markets, food-truck events, and entertainment. Staff said an earlier RFP for the entire facility had not produced a successful outcome; a competitive process for individual spaces may be developed, and staff also described interest from prospective tenants. No contract award, procurement approval, or formal direction vote on the property was taken.
Public Works estimated approximately $1.1 million in repairs to address code-compliance and maintenance needs, including the roof, exterior doors, walls, railings, interior finishes, and electrical and plumbing items. Staff proposed using TID funds for the work. Councilors discussed whether TID funds could also cover approximately $17,000 in utility impact fees previously waived for the property, but no decision was made. Council members generally expressed support for keeping the property under city control and pursuing its use, while asking staff to return with a clearer operating vision, partner input, and more concrete plans; that support was discussed but not formally voted on. The only recorded vote was unanimous approval to adjourn.
