The Standing Committee on Operations and Governance’s Realignment Forum, held October 26, 2026, was a public-comment meeting on Worcester school boundary realignment, including draft scenario 3. Residents, parents, educators, staff, and alumni raised concerns about enrollment capacity, equity and access, transportation and bus safety, proposed school assignments and space use, middle-school start times, after-school programs, and the potential effects on Greenale Head Start, Worcester Arts Magnet, and University Park Campus School (UPCS). Several speakers urged the district to preserve established school communities and programs and provide more time and clarity before decisions are made. No procurement activity, spending action, or vote was identified.
Administrators said realignment is intended to address capacity imbalances, K–12 pathways, transportation, preschool expansion, and equity, and that the district has been developing scenarios and gathering public input since February. They said grandfathering, flex-zone rules, and program access remain under consideration; no changes to Goddard Scholars were known, and they stated that programs would not be closed. The district described flex zones as a possible way to manage enrollment between school areas, while acknowledging tradeoffs and the need for clearer guidance. Officials said a more established plan was expected to be presented November 16, with further public feedback to follow.
