The City of Indio Sustainability Commission met on October 26, 2026, and reviewed its draft sustainable-building report and annual activity report for City Council. Commissioners agreed to prepare a concise report with a short staff memo and selected accomplishments, targeting the Council’s December 2 meeting; staff indicated materials would need to be submitted about three weeks in advance, with commissioner comments gathered by email. The building report will be included as an appendix, with edits to its discussion of large warehouses and data centers and added tour photos. Commissioners also proposed coordinating with the Building Department in 2027 to discuss standards and sustainability priorities. The commission approved the prior meeting minutes unanimously among the three voting members present and later voted to adjourn.

Staff reported that planned EV chargers at City Hall, the golf course, and sports park are operational; sustainability collection events and the regional climate action plan were completed, while zero-waste certification work and several outreach and planning items remain underway. The commission discussed preparing earlier for future grant rounds and monitoring the outcome of its recent application; Glaze and Associates was mentioned as the City’s grant-writing firm, but no grant award, contract, or purchasing decision was made. Commissioners also noted that the City Council extended a data-center moratorium while the City works on changes to its general rules and specific plans, and supported continued commission tracking. No procurement activity or spending vote was identified.
