🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚨 Public Safety Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

The Dunwoody City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting was held Oct. 26, 2026. The council approved a $1,589,508 contract with low bidder Eastern Builders for the Public Safety Storage Building after receiving 11 bids; its bid was $269,496 below the next-lowest. The 5–1 vote approved a funding plan using $443,000 from SPLOST I, $320,000 from SPLOST II, $384,400 in general capital funds from Shallowford Road proceeds, and $442,095 from general fund reserves. Council also approved the consent agenda, which included a street-sweeping contract estimated at $139,000 over five years (with annual purchase orders; approximately $51,600 for 2027) and CDBG grant administration. Staff estimated CDBG funding at about $200,000 annually, subject to final allocation, and said the city expects to recover roughly $64,000–$65,000 in initial general-fund costs.

Other project actions included approval of an $18,880 amendment, plus a $5,000 contingency, to Practical Design Partners’ Happy Hollow Road sidewalk/stormwater design contract, bringing its total limit to $184,130. The council also approved a non-reimbursable GDOT agreement for right-of-way acquisition for the Winter Chapel Path Phase 2 project; the city will bear acquisition costs within its boundaries, with funds budgeted in the five-year capital plan and Peachtree Corners responsible for costs within its boundaries. Separately, council unanimously approved revised High Street Block 6 zoning conditions, including a maximum of five buildings and 60 surface parking spaces. Residents urged the city to hold a public forum, conduct an independent audit, and cancel its Flock camera contracts over surveillance and cybersecurity concerns; no action on those requests was taken.
