At the Springfield City Council hearings meeting on October 26, 2026, the council approved a special permit for a halal live-poultry retail market at 785 Page Boulevard. The applicant and city Health and Human Services officials described health safeguards and oversight involving state and federal agencies; the council voted unanimously to approve. The council also unanimously approved a special-permit amendment for a Noria rebrand of the existing fuel station and convenience store at 1313 Boston Road, with no site-layout or ground-disturbance changes, and approved a change of petitioner for used-car sales at 1469 State Street. The 139 Paramount Street hearing was continued because the applicant was absent. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or spending allocations were identified.
The council considered zoning ordinance amendments, including defining data centers and limiting them to Industrial A districts with a City Council special permit, adding dimensional standards for the Riverfront District, and changing rules for parking lots, trailers, and other uses. Members withdrew the proposed temporary-sign provisions and continued the overall zoning item to a later hearings meeting for further questions; those changes were not adopted at this meeting. Earlier proclamations honored the Springfield Armory superintendent, the Birth of Basketball documentary team, the Black Men of Greater Springfield, and the Springfield Puerto Rican Parade.
