The Georgetown City Council met on October 26, 2026. Procurement and capital-project activity centered on the council’s approval of a package of Georgetown Municipal Water and Sewer Service (GMWSS) items. These included equipment replacement at Wastewater Plant 2 from Hawk Company; additional work under Kentucky Engineering Group’s existing contract; sewer and water-line change orders with Cleary, including a $33,910.46 change order to address a storm-sewer conflict; design services from Clark Dietz, selected as the low proposer for concrete repairs at the Stamping Ground wastewater plant; annual cured-in-place pipe work from In Situform Technologies; and a compensation assessment from Hanna Resource Group for $29,400, within the $35,000 budget. The council also approved annual biosolids hauling by Rumpke at $65.15 per ton under a one-year contract, along with annual parts-and-materials bids. Staff reported that the Main Street sidewalk project was essentially complete and would finish below its original bid amount, with no added cost for the described scope adjustments.
Other spending-related updates included the Public Works Committee’s approval of a one-year Republic contract extension, preserving time to renegotiate or seek bids from other providers; a proposed $194,000 fire-truck refurbishment, including a $25,000 contingency, with the old truck expected to be surplused for an estimated $200,000–$300,000; and council approval of a dispatch salary adjustment intended to improve recruitment and retention. The dispatch increase was estimated to cost about $136,000 for the remainder of the fiscal year, with current vacancies expected to offset the expense. The council also passed a data-center moratorium resolution through June 30, 2027, while the city develops further safeguards; no data-center applications were pending. The Tree Board appointments were deferred while staff and council review the governing ordinance and prepare an amendment addressing staggered terms.
