The October 26, 2026, Cullman City Council meeting included several approved contracts and procurement-related actions. The council approved a contract amendment with Principal Insurance Company for employee dental coverage following the company’s acquisition of the prior insurer; a one-year contract with Carisoft Technology Group for technology services to approximately 20 departments, not to exceed $14,504; and a DocuSign e-signature services contract, not to exceed $6,739.20, which staff said was renegotiated to save about $1,600. The council also approved an application for an E911 grant, with no matching funds required, to support a new dispatch console and radio system, and approved surplus radios and chargers for donation to the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles. A fuel bid for the sanitation department is expected at the next meeting; staff anticipates savings of 50–75 cents per gallon on roughly 100,000 gallons of annual diesel use, but no award was made.
Other project updates included ongoing airport sealcoating and construction, tennis court and Eastside Park projects, with city crews helping control costs. The council approved special-event permits for a New Year’s Eve celebration at Traditions Bank and a public event at the Highway 278/31 intersection. Public comment raised concerns about pedestrian safety at community races and proposed traffic-control and route changes; officials described ongoing planning, but no spending action was taken. The council also approved the second reading of an annexation ordinance and held the first reading of an ordinance revising appointed city-officer provisions.
