The City of Homewood Planning Commission met on November 3, 2026. It approved the October minutes and voted 7–0 to approve a condominium plat for 100 Brookwood Place, allowing the building to be divided into two units and enabling the planned sale of the second floor to tenant Bryant Bank. No government procurement, contract award, or purchasing action was identified.

The commission voted 6–1 to recommend approval to the City Council of Samford University’s amended development plan for a parking area near Shelburne Lane, expected to provide about 280 spaces. Discussion focused on neighbors’ concerns about stormwater, tree removal, lighting, noise, construction, and access; the applicant described planned detention, landscaping, and shielded lighting. The Council will hold a further hearing. The commission also approved an amended development plan for a covered porch at 145 South Point Drive; it will proceed to the City Council. The city announced that its department is now named the Community Development Department and advised that a reported suspicious payment demand should be forwarded to the city for review.
