The Peoria County Land Use Committee met on October 26, 2026. Members received a strategic-plan update noting that the county’s comprehensive plan—its first update since 2009—was adopted by the County Board in September. The committee unanimously approved two zoning matters: a request to rezone 4.75 acres from rural residential to agriculture to facilitate boundary adjustments and a future home site, and a request to divide 5 acres from a 40-acre tract for a family home site. No public comments were offered.
The committee also reviewed and unanimously approved its budget action. The presentation cited a $67.1 million general-fund budget, approximately $570,000 in Planning and Zoning revenues, and more than $700,000 in Planning and Zoning grant-fund expenditures. Total uses were reported as nearly $75,000 (9%) below the current revised budget. Staffing is budgeted to decrease from 8.8 FTEs in FY26 to 8.2 in FY27, including removal of a part-time planning inspector FTE because the position has been difficult to fill. No contract awards, vendor selections, purchasing decisions, or other procurement activity were identified.
