Davidson County Board of Commissioners meeting, October 26, 2026: The board considered a proposed data-center zoning text amendment after extensive staff presentation and public comment. The amendment, approved with revisions, establishes facility categories and special-use review requirements, limits data centers to specified zoning districts, sets a 55 dB noise limit, requires substantial buffers and setbacks (including up to 1,000 feet from schools, places of worship, and certain care facilities), requires low- or zero-water cooling, and provides for emergency planning, environmental and vibration studies, decommissioning plans, and financial assurance. The board also voted against a temporary four-month moratorium, leaving the revised ordinance as the regulatory approach. No data-center development contract or project award was considered.

The board approved, 4–3, the ABC Board’s request to increase its capital-improvement fund limit from $2.5 million to $3.5 million, allowing more profits to be reserved toward future store construction and reducing borrowing; projected costs discussed were approximately $2.5 million for Denton and $4.3 million for Wallburg. The county attorney reported that the Flock camera contract had been terminated effective October 23, 2026; the cameras were deactivated and covered, with removal still pending. The board also approved a conditional rezoning for an approximately 17.94-acre limited-industrial site for a contractor’s equipment and materials yard, subject to conditions including operating hours, screening, and a vegetative buffer.
