At the October 26, 2026 Riley County Commission meeting, commissioners approved a letter of support for Leonardville Nursing Home’s KDOT grant application to replace two aging minivans; the motion passed. The special traffic enforcement program also sought approval to apply for a grant reimbursing officer hours and allowing safety-equipment purchases. Commissioners raised legal concerns because the revised application names Riley County rather than the Riley County Law Enforcement Agency as the awardee. No approval was recorded; staff will consult with counsel and the grant administrator about correcting the recipient or arranging an appropriate agreement, and bring the matter back if needed.

Pawnee Mental Health Services reported a five-year capital improvement plan, including parking-lot replacements, and an approximately $200,000 SAMHSA grant for a three-year period to sustain IT modernization and community training; the speaker also referenced nearly $600,000 in support. Community Corrections said a BJA grant application was in progress and reported that $67,230 in reinvestment grant funding for juvenile services will end after June 30. Staff are exploring a contracted quality-assurance service to address a required oversight gap, but no contract was approved. The commission also approved the October 22 meeting minutes; no other procurement awards were identified.
