The City of Tucker’s October 26, 2026 work session reviewed several procurement- and capital-related items. Staff said FY2027 funding is allocated for a downtown master plan update, a housing-focused code audit, and a Tucker Recreation Center feasibility study; the recommended sequence was to begin with the downtown plan, then the code audit, followed by the recreation study, with some work potentially overlapping. The studies may require outside consultants, and council members generally supported the proposed priorities. The city manager also previewed upcoming lighting contracts for the Taylor Morrison development and nearby communities, as well as downtown restriping covering crosswalks and roadway markings. Staff reported that four contracts had already been approved for a roughly $9 million safety-improvement project, with construction anticipated to begin in 60–90 days. No new contract award or procurement vote occurred at this work session. The existing Flock camera contract costs $37,500 annually and remains budgeted; the city has asked DeKalb County to assume it, with no additional financial impact reported at this time.

Other discussion included progress on the Montreal Park master plan, informed by community input favoring tree protection, trails, safety, and a neighborhood-scale park; the Lake Erin Dam project, which staff said could be completed by year-end; and other ongoing capital projects, including roundabouts and the Rosenfeld project. Residents raised concerns about downstream impacts from the dam work and requested investigation and a timeline, and speakers also commented on park surveillance and community input for park planning. Council discussed privacy, security, oversight, and public-safety considerations related to Flock license-plate reader cameras; no decision to change the contract was made. The agenda was approved, and a motion to excuse one council member was also approved.
