At its October 26, 2026 meeting, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors entered closed session to discuss the potential acquisition of the Alleghany Springs Consolidated Site and personnel matters; no outcomes of the property discussion were disclosed. The Board approved the county carryover appropriations unanimously. Staff reported that the carryover included $1.6 million and that a potential consolidated-sites project could reduce the county’s available balance from $4.2 million to just over $2 million. The Board also unanimously approved the third and final Grow Virginia grant-match payment for Project Vital; no amount was stated. A carryover item for Parks and Recreation included upgrades and replacement of the Frog Pond Pool decking.

The county reported it has issued an RFP for a planning/land-use consultant to assist with rewriting the zoning ordinance. The rewrite and public engagement are expected to take place during 2027, with the new ordinance likely to take effect in 2028; no vendor selection or contract amount was reported. The Board also approved tax exemptions for Hacksburg and the Humane Society. Separately, it approved Techie Athletics’ special use permit by a 4–3 vote; this was a land-use decision, not a procurement award.
