The Eureka Springs City Council regular meeting was held October 26, 2026. The city reported that its wastewater treatment plant project had been advertised for bids, with a bid opening scheduled; staff had received and answered contractor inquiries. No bid award or contract approval occurred at this meeting. The city also reported ordering two replacement street-sign posts for approximately $1,500. A proposed purchase of about 0.023 acre near the Queen Anne was discussed to widen access for bicycles, but the motion and second were withdrawn while the purchase agreement and survey description are revised and sent to the seller’s representative for review. The matter is expected to return at a future meeting, so no purchase was approved. Public works said it may consider whether a small roller would help with street patches, but no purchasing decision was made.

Council discussed the possibility of a part-time social worker connected to the police department, but requested further information on need and potential university or community resources; no hiring or funding action was taken. The council approved Ordinance 2391 on three readings, vacating an unnamed alley between lots 1 and 4 in block 12 of the Freeman Addition. It also held public hearings on transit Title VI compliance and an alley vacation, and set a future hearing date for a separate alley petition. No other contract award or budget allocation was identified.
