At the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors meeting on October 27, 2026, the Board approved $2,756,300.49 in accounts payable: $527,942.57 to MB Contractors for the Reed Mountain Fire and 911 Center, $296,140.92 to CDWG for Microsoft 365 licensing, and $1,932,217 to Atlantic Emergency Solutions for a Pierce ladder truck. Officials said the payments were covered by previously budgeted funds, including grant and capital-reserve money. The Board also approved a $260,000 Motorola Solutions radio-system change order, to be paid from existing contingency, and authorized recruitment of an opioid-abatement/specialty-docket coordinator whose position is grant-funded. On Parks and Recreation, the Board approved reconsideration of a $15,000 annual contribution to Roanoke County’s therapeutic recreation partnership, with a dissent and an abstention noted; the contribution was already budgeted and would provide Botetourt residents an earlier registration window, not guaranteed program places.
The Board approved publication of an unsolicited proposal, estimated at about $300,000, for two tennis courts and four pickleball courts under the Public Procurement Education Act, allowing a 60-day period for competing proposals; approval did not select a contractor or commit the county to proceed. The proposed county museum was discussed at length, including approximately $8.5 million in state appropriations and additional funds from interest and county property-sale proceeds, but no construction authorization was taken: after counsel advised that final action could not be taken at this meeting, the motion was canceled and supervisors requested the item be placed on the November agenda. The meeting also included updates on VDOT paving and the I-81 widening project, but no new VDOT contract award was reported.
