The Tangipahoa Parish Council’s regular business meeting was held October 27, 2026. The council approved substantial completion of the parish’s middle-mile broadband network, which runs from Amite to Kentwood; officials said they are pursuing a lease arrangement for the parish-owned network. Council members also noted that recent provider awards to AT&T and Charter Spectrum are expected to extend broadband service across most parish addresses over the next two to three years. The council approved substantial completion of the parish jail roof replacement and authorized contractors to cut grass and remove trash and debris at several properties, with contract costs and administrative fees to be charged to the properties. No contractor names or amounts were stated. Members also praised the completed Marberry Street Extension project. The parish president cited an annual allocation of about $3.5 million for litter abatement, education, cleanup, blighted-property work, and animal control.
Tangipahoa Parish School System representatives reported approximately $150 million in facility expansions and improvements without new taxes, funded in part by sales-tax revenue; this was an update, not a council procurement award. The council considered budget ordinances for the Library Board of Control and Convention and Visitors Bureau, including 2027 budgets and a 2026 budget amendment, as well as ordinances updating parish procedures for adjudicated-property sales and sales-tax collection to conform with state law. The transcript records motions and votes on these items but does not clearly establish final adoption of the budget ordinances. No specific contract amounts or vendor names were given for the parish construction and cleanup work.
