Mercer County Schools Board of Education regular session, October 26, 2026. The board approved a financial-administration mentorship contract after three responses were received and only one was found qualified: Hover scored 98/100, at $75 per hour, with an estimated expenditure of $20,000. The board also approved a testing and interactive-clinicals program for the LPN program, costing $2,275 to be paid from adult-student fees, with no cost to the board. A proposed $10,000 purchase of CTE management software, including setup and training and funded through the CTE budget, was tabled pending additional information about the vendor’s business history and track record. The board reviewed an RFP process for board attorney services; members will evaluate and score the proposals, with a selection expected on a later agenda. No attorney award was made at this meeting.
The board considered an amendment to the district’s long-range facilities plan to include proposed closure and consolidation of the Early Learning Center and Sun Valley Elementary School; approval of the amendment would not itself authorize closures. Members also requested a review of restroom conditions at Pike View and Montcalm high schools. The discussion noted Princeton High School restroom work was funded through a capital project, with $70,000 donated. Separately, administrators reported federal-program monitoring findings, including procurement and expense-documentation issues, and described corrective actions such as monthly budget reconciliations and updated staff training. No new procurement action was taken on those findings.
