The New Canaan Board of Education’s regular meeting on November 2, 2026, included a review of enrollment and staffing data for budget planning. Staff reported 3,927 K–12 students and discussed enrollment-based staffing adjustments and upcoming projections from MNP Planning; the district expects to review those projections alongside another forecast before developing its budget. During public comment, softball players requested a new or upgraded field, citing safety and equity concerns. No field project or related spending was approved at this meeting.
The board unanimously approved two donations: $35,583.62 from Friends of New Canaan Hockey for team ice time, and $82,754.71 from the All Sports Booster Club to fund additional fall coaching positions. The board also advanced several policy items, including a second-reading approval of kindergarten age-of-entry revisions and first-reading items concerning removal of the diplomas-for-former-residents policy, abuse-reporting terminology, school climate, and restorative practices. No contract award or procurement amount for MNP Planning was stated.
