Beaufort County Council held caucus and regular meetings on October 26, 2026. In caucus, Council unanimously authorized the county attorney and outside counsel to negotiate a settlement in Beaufort County v. Paul Somerville on terms and amounts discussed in executive session. The regular-meeting consent agenda approved the purchase of 20 FY27 EMS ambulances and an award and approval for ABR Digital Solutions; no purchase amounts or further contract details were stated. Council also considered a first-reading ordinance for the Port Royal multi-county park, which would allow up to $10 million in project revenues to support public waterfront infrastructure over a maximum of 20 years. The measure passed 8–2 with one abstention. A separate budget ordinance appropriated fund balance for the Beaufort County Regions Tournament Complex; the recorded vote included two no votes, but the total was unclear in the transcript.

Council considered a first-reading amendment to reallocate $1,646,811.17 in remaining ARPA funds. Staff recommended affordable-housing projects through the Beaufort-Jasper Housing Trust, but a motion proposed redirecting the funds to extend broadband service into the Sheldon and Big Estate communities; the motion passed 8–3. The transcript does not clearly record a separate vote on the underlying ordinance as amended. Other relevant updates included staff’s coordination with a contractor on a time extension for a delayed water, drainage, and sewer project, and further procurement of the remaining Alljoy Pathway construction scope. Council also approved a resolution to explore options for expanding services at the county Animal Services Campus; it was described as exploratory, not an award or funding commitment.
