🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 📚 Education Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

Milton’s October 19, 2026 Special Town Meeting approved several capital and funding actions. Members approved a $300,000 Community Preservation Act allocation toward the Tucker School playground renovation (218 yes, 1 no, 2 abstentions). The overall project is estimated at $1.45 million, with about $540,000 raised toward construction; proponents said approval would enable the project to proceed to bidding and order play structures for a planned summer 2027 build. Members also approved transferring surplus bond proceeds from completed projects toward the replacement fire engine previously authorized in 2025; the Warrant Committee described roughly $425,000 in available proceeds. The amended PEG access enterprise-fund appropriation was approved unanimously, though the amount was not clear in the transcript.

Members voted by more than a two-thirds majority (168 yes, 45 no) to authorize the Select Board to acquire the former Laboure College property at 303 Adam Street for $11.75 million and borrow that amount, contingent on voter approval of a debt-exclusion ballot scheduled for December 15. The purchase was debated as a possible school site and as an opportunity to retain control of the property; no final use or school construction contract was approved. The related Article 7 was referred back to the Select Board, as was Article 3 on road rehabilitation after officials identified an error in the water-enterprise debt schedule. Article 9, concerning a flood-related contract/bylaw matter, was also referred back after the Select Board said the issue was moot. A zoning bylaw change increasing the affordable-housing requirement for new units in the MBTA communities overlay district to 15% passed by a two-thirds vote.
