Bee County Commissioners Court special called meeting, October 26, 2026: The court approved the 2027 Texas Indigent Defense Commission formula-grant resolution and an interlocal agreement with Live Oak and McMullen counties for shared costs of the multicounty court-at-law office. It also approved the District Attorney’s FY2027 expense request, including hotel costs, annual software subscriptions and bar dues for five attorneys; fee waivers for Western Week and Beeville Ladies Night Out events; and an interlocal jail-services agreement with Jim Wells County, under which Bee County will receive $7,645 per day for housing inmates. The court also approved a three-year mass-notification-system agreement for $7,700 after considering non-renewal of the existing service; the emergency manager cited the system’s use for community alerts and county ID credentials.

The court discussed, but took no action on, a possible sale of a narrow county-owned parcel in Skidmore; commissioners said ownership boundaries and the parcel’s dimensions needed further clarification. Opening remarks also reviewed completed county investments and projects, including emergency-response facilities and water storage, courthouse and other building improvements, equipment and vehicle purchases, and grant-supported bridge work. The court noted a multimillion-dollar state grant for courthouse repairs expected to begin in 2027. Other approved items included language-access guidelines and use of courthouse grounds for a Veterans Day event.
