📚 Education 🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure Grants & Funding Physical Infrastructure

The Saint Joseph School District Board of Education met on October 26, 2026. The board approved the bills as presented, September financials, and the October budget amendment. The amendment sets operating-fund expenditures at $157 million, $8 million below the prior year’s actual expenditures, and reflects a $250,000 reduction in CTE/Title IV funding. Staff reported $67 million in local tax revenue and just over $2.1 million in federal funding received to date. The board discussed declining revenues, enrollment and staffing reductions, rising insurance costs, and a five-year forecast; no specific contract award, vendor selection, or new purchasing authorization was identified.

The board also discussed a proposed 15-cent transfer from debt service to the general fund, estimated to provide slightly more than $2 million without increasing the overall tax levy. The discussion was to be followed by a resolution at the December meeting for possible placement on the April ballot; the transcript does not establish final approval of the ballot measure. Facilities planning included updated building-condition ratings from DLR Group and discussion of infrastructure needs and prior upgrades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, safety, and security improvements. No new facilities project or related procurement was approved.
