The October 22, 2026 Ogemaw County Board of Commissioners meeting approved advertising three RFPs for county facility and infrastructure work: reconstruction of the county building’s two-story brick parapet wall, temperature-control upgrades for four air-handling units, and heating and cooling improvements for Public Transit. Proposals are to return to the board for review before any contracts are awarded. The board also approved Zettle Excavating’s septic-system work at the Nature Park for $8,211; the contractor offered a 15% discount as a donation to the park. The commissioner said the work would be funded from Parks and Recreation funds. Four contractors had been contacted, but two were unavailable and the others did not provide a comparable quote. The board further approved a $97,323 agreement for county residents’ agricultural, 4-H, health and nutrition, and community-development services for October 2026–September 2027, funded through the relevant millage, and approved a $15,144.25 Materials Management Plan budget transfer, with expenditures to be submitted for grant reimbursement.
Other financial actions included approval of an audit-funding adjustment to transfer funds from the lawsuit budget line into the audit line; the transcript records four votes in favor and one opposed. The board approved two employee reclassifications with wage increases: the Treasurer’s Office employee’s move to Level 2 at $18.11 per hour, effective November 17 rather than retroactively, passed with one vote opposed; the Equalization Office employee’s move to Level 3 at $20.16 per hour, effective October 5, passed unanimously. The board discussed proposed Public Transit rate changes, including wheelchair-accessible trips at $35 for up to five miles and $3 per additional mile, proposed for December 1, 2026, but no final vote is captured in the transcript. No contracts were awarded for the RFP projects at this meeting.
