The Clark County School District Attendance Zone Advisory Committee met on October 21, 2026, to review attendance-boundary scenarios for several elementary and high schools. The committee discussed establishing a zone for the new Joyce Woodhouse Elementary School, opening in fall 2027; a scenario moving about 100 students from the Treem and Thorp zones to Estus McDaniel Elementary; and elementary-to-middle-school feeder alignment. Members asked for earlier community engagement on the Estus McDaniel scenario. No public comments were received, and no boundary recommendations were adopted at this meeting.
The committee also reviewed high-school scenarios tied to the district’s board-approved Capital Improvement Plan Revision 7. One would shift students geographically from Desert Oasis to Silverado; staff clarified that the scenario’s geographic count was 804 students and that geographic counts do not necessarily equal school enrollment. Another scenario would shift students from Chaparral to Las Vegas and Valley high schools in connection with a proposed replacement facility anticipated to open in fall 2029. Members discussed capacity, feeder alignment, and the need for additional scenarios. The committee took no procurement actions: no contracts, vendors, bids, or spending allocations were considered or approved. Motions to adopt the agenda and prior minutes, and to adjourn, passed.
